FourPlay String Quartet — new music like no other
Welcome to the official website of the electric string quartet FourPlay, based in Sydney, Australia.
FourPlay with Neil Gaiman and Eddie Campbell — the journey continues
In August 2010, we performed our "underscore" live at the Sydney Opera House as part of the inaugral Graphic Festival, with Neil Gaiman reading his story "The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains", and Eddie Campbell's wonderful illustrations projected throughout.
This work was repeated at the amazing Mona Foma festival, and on the 24th of January, 2011, we headed into the studio to record it with Neil. Stay tuned for news about when and how this will be released! Expect many deluxe formats — and we do plan to perform it in many auspicious venues around the world.
In Hobart, Ryan aka The Geek of Oz managed to catch Neil Gaiman for a long (and awesome) interview in which some rather lovely things were spake regarding yr humble string quartet. Read it here.

Fourthcoming - FourPlay's latest album!
Ladies and gentlemen... FourPlay's fourth album, Fourthcoming, is forthcoming no more! Check our discography page for the full tracklisting and info, and purchase it at our online shop. The tracks can be listened to online at last.fm.
We'll be launching the album across Australia (as much as we can reach at least) in the second half of July and start of August! Check out the dates at the gig guide page, or browse the lovely calendar to the right. Note you can switch months with the arrows, and hover over a day to see the event before you click the link. Magic!

We’re very excited that Neil Gaiman has taken a couple of days out of his travel plans to hike up to Sydney and play a show — and he’s asked us to join him! We’re not going to be able to recap the work we created with him for last year’s Graphic Festival, but we will be performing some new stuff with him, as well playing our own set in support.
Early bird tickets have already sold out! The Factory Theatre website seems not to be selling them (at $45), so call them on 02 9550 3666.

After last year’s amazing experience with Neil Gaiman, we’re back for the second round of Sydney’s Graphic festival. This year we’re playing with legendary UK electronic act Plaid as part of their soundtrack to the also-legendary anime Tekkon Kinkreet (more info here), and we’ve also written a short score to a “silent” comic by Roger Langridge, which we’re performing along with a bunch of other awesome musicians at the Silent Comics event.
